What we record, and what we never will.
If you're the administrator, parent, or IT director vetting StayPut before a trip, this page is for you.
What the sensors record
Door open or closed. Nothing else.
There is no camera, no microphone, and no GPS in a StayPut sensor. It reports one thing: the door opened or closed, and when.
Students carry nothing
Sensors go on doors, not people. Students install nothing, carry nothing, and never interact with StayPut at all.
Alerts only during curfew
Chaperones get notified when a door opens inside the curfew window your trip leader sets. The rest of the day, door events are just quiet log entries.
What we know about your students
A name and a room number
That is the entire list, and your staff types it in. We never ask for grades, birthdates, health information, photos, or student contact details.
Your staff controls who sees what
Chaperones see their assigned rooms. Trip leaders decide who gets invited. Nobody shares a login.
Deleted when you say so
Trip records stay available so you have documentation after the trip. Want a trip or your whole account purged? Ask, and it is done.
Money and accounts
We never see card numbers
Payments run through Stripe. Card details go from your browser to Stripe directly — they never touch StayPut systems.
Accounts can be locked down
Two-factor authentication is available on every account, and sessions can be revoked from the dashboard.
Alerts travel through trusted carriers
Text messages, emails, and push notifications are delivered by established providers, and each one receives only what delivery requires — a phone number and the alert text, never a student roster.
What StayPut is not
StayPut is not a replacement for chaperones, ratios, or your organization's overnight-trip policies. An alert tells the adult on duty that a door opened; what happens next is, and should be, a human decision.
